Our Carrie mango sent out a single set of flowers a few weeks ago- a “scout” if you will. It was cold for Florida when I first noticed the flower buds, and then we went into our recent cold snap. I was so nervous that this cold would destroy any chances of having mangoes this season. To my surprise, she held back- she didn’t start really pushing more flowers until this week, when the longest cold snap I’ve experienced since living in Florida finally seemed to be behind us. I can’t count out the chance of another one- it’s still February- but I really believe that the “scout” flowers told the tree, “it’s not time yet”. Maybes it’s in my head, but I’m feeling hopeful for a harvest of mangoes this summer!

Hey St. Pete Micro Farm Fans! Checking in to let you know that I think we made it okay though this cold snap! Our bananas and papayas are looking pretty rough, as is our hog plum and bay rum, but our mango, jaboticaba, and avocado are looking 👌🏼. And check out these tomatoes! Getting close!
