We traded blueprints and building materials for bonsai trees!

Last week, the CASK team stepped away from the job sites and office for an afternoon of bonsai pruning. It was a chance to slow down, have some fun, and strengthen the relationships behind the work we do every day.

With the concrete slab complete, and the masonry walls in place, this ADU’s footprint is becoming something the homeowners can step inside and experience.

The roof trusses have also arrived and are now on site, ready for the next major milestone.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but these early structural milestones are where careful planning and engineering begin transforming a set of drawings into a space designed around the homeowner’s needs.

Building an ADU over an existing garage might seem like the easiest way to save time and money — but that isn’t always the case.

We sat down with Matteo Carpani, Operations Manager at CASK, to talk through what homeowners should consider when deciding whether to retrofit an existing garage or demolish and rebuild from the ground up.
