I get a lot of requests for miniature donkeys for coyote protection. These small creatures cannot protect your sheep, goats or livestock. The best option are dogs bred to protect (Anatolian, Pyrenees) that can live with your smaller livestock. If a donkey is your preference, a pair of large standard jennets or geldings are fine. Jacks are not preferred as they are breeding animals and may actually kill or hurt the livestock you're trying to protect. Please learn about donkey care, feeding of, and consider all options, including fencing, before deciding what works best for you.

Charlie Brown had a good show in Oklahoma. Won first place in a class of 15 geldings 5 and over, and won Reserve Champion Gelding. He was shown by Charlotte, one of the Youth who was also showing her own donkey. I'm proud of Charlotte and Charlie.

Meet my new jack. DTA Little Bit of Fire and Ice. More on him later, including better pictures and pedigree. He will be 3 in August and is already proven with a foal on the ground. We're very happy to have this little man here.

Three of my girls are headed to Santa Barbara County with me tomorrow to become California Girls. I'm going to miss them but they are going to one of most favorite donkey people!

I rarely have anything for sale, but I do have three jennets and one foal available this year. Nice conformation, 33-35 inches, 10-12 years old. Very socialized and up to date on farrier, vaccines, worming and coggins. PM for info.
