The more you know ✍️

June is here, and gardens across New Hampshire are growing fast.

Here are a few seasonal reminders from UNH Extension:

Plant summer-flowering bulbs like cannas, dahlias, and gladiolus in a sunny location with well-drained soil.

Set your lawn mower to at least 3 inches. Taller grass is more resilient to pests, diseases, and drought, while also helping to suppress weeds.

Harvest asparagus and rhubarb through the end of June, then allow plants to grow and store energy for next year's harvest.

Prune and stake tomato plants to improve airflow, reduce disease pressure, and make harvesting easier later in the season.

Thin excess fruit from overloaded fruit trees to encourage larger fruit and reduce stress on branches.

Move houseplants outdoors once nighttime temperatures consistently stay above 50°F, gradually introducing them to brighter sunlight.

Water gardens in the morning to allow the foliage to dry before nightfall and help reduce disease issues.

We know when a loved one passes, it’s can be a difficult time. The gravesite becomes a place to mourn, to remember, and to honor their memory. The Floral Hound is here to assist and offer peace of mind by providing exceptional grave site maintenance for your loved one’s final resting place

Gravesite Garden Bed Build:
This service builds the initial garden bed at the headstone.
We offer plantings services at this time, if no plantings - bed will be edged and mulched with the color of your picking.

Winter Prep Service:
In late autumn, clean up the gravesite so it looks neat and tidy for the winter. This service removes spent flowers and annual plantings, then adds a fresh layer of mulch, with a final rake to remove leaves and other debris from the site.
(If you have a Holiday Arrangement Service, site would be cleaned after the new year, weather permitting)

Foot Marker:
• Trim/cut around markers to keep grass from overgrowing
• Clean debris that may be present on marker

Monument Maintenance Packages includes:
• Perennial / seasonal plantings
• Urn arrangements
• W**d, clear debris, deadhead & prune as needed
• Trim/cut around markers to keep grass from overgrowing
• Rake site to remove seasonal debris (e.g. leaves, acorns, pinecones)
• Water & fertilizer annuals if needed
• Bed mulching each season
• Photograph gravesite before & after
