Comcast is "evolving" their network in our area today. As a result, we do not have normal internet access or telephone access. You can still come down to the shop for service. You can also email us and we will try to reply as quick as we can.

It has come to our attention that someone has been spreading a rumor about Clyde's. Apparently we are "closing", at least according to the rumor. We have heard this from multiple people over the past few weeks.

Rest assured, we are NOT closing. We have been in business since 1950 and have no plans on closing. Why would we? We will continue to serve Salem and the surrounding areas until 2050 and beyond.

If you have heard this rumor, please disregard it. Or, better yet, come by the shop and let us know who you heard it from. So far, no one has been willing to tell us who told them this rumor but I'm guessing it's some unscrupulous locksmith who wishes that we would close.

So, we had another person try to change the information on our page... PLEASE, do not even waste your time trying!

Someone apparently thought it was a great idea to change our price range from "$" to "Not Applicable". I could see no legitimate reason for trying to do this. Because believe me, our prices are very applicable... That's how we've been in business for over 70 years!

Every day, I hear from people who come into our shop that our prices are much lower when compared to the competition. If you want to find out about pricing, drop by the shop, give us a call, or shoot us an email. We are happy to provide you information. We can even come to you for a free quote.

Recently we had a customer come into our shop with a lock that had been drilled out. A lock with a very common keyway. Apparently his wife was locked out of their house and the locksmith she called to get her in decided the best course of action was to drill the lock out.

The truth is, the vast majority of locks on homes DO NOT need to be drilled out to be opened. A competent locksmith should be able to unlock a lock without the key. Drilling the lock should be the LAST option after all other avenues have been exhausted.

If you call a locksmith and they reach for their drill in the first 5 minutes, you have likely called a scamsmith. Unfortunately, our industry is plagued by these so-called locksmiths who are just itching to drill your locks and then charge you a premium to replace your now broken hardware, usually with junk. They even have websites that have fake prices on them to show you how much the replacement hardware "costs"!

Do yourself a favor: if you are locked out of your home, business, or vehicle, give us a call. We are honest and dependable and will do our best to get to you as soon as we can. We will never destroy your hardware on purpose just to sell you a replacement.

Another option would be to keep your key on file here. Send us an email for more information.

Hello Everyone:

I just wanted to say that YES, we are open, just like we have been since 1950. To the troll trying to mark our shop as permanently closed... Don't do that!

We are open Monday through Friday from about 9:00am to 5:00pm, sometimes later than that though. The easiest way to reach us is to call the shop. If we don't answer, please leave a message. We have been very busy and can't always come to the phone, especially when we are dealing with a lobby full of people. You can always visit our website and send us a message from there or shoot us an email, too. We try our best to respond in a timely manner.

Thanks everyone. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and stay safe!
