🐓Farm Spotlight 🐓
John Weddington Greenhouse was established in 1984 by its namesake. In 2003, John’s son, Kurt, joined the business full-time after college. Kurt currently manages the day-to-day operations, while John enjoys semi-retirement. They deliver wholesale bedding and potted plants to independent garden centers from Greensboro to Charlotte and supply several local landscapers. They grow annual flowers, herbs, and a vast array of vegetable transplants. Come out and show your support for our farms and agriculture businesses with the Rowan Arts & Ag Farm Tour on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. To learn more about John Weddington Greenhouse and other farms on our self-guided tour visit https://artsandagtour.com.

Valerie Christy is a propagation specialist at JWG, so we can attest to her green thumb. As for splashes of other color, well, we love her tie-dyed creations and we think you will too! Can't wait to see the artists' paintings as well.

Stop by the John Weddington Greenhouse during the Rowan Arts & Ag Farm Tour on June 4 as we will have artist Valarie Christy displaying her tie-dyed work and other crafts and then we will have Phyllis Steimel & Leslie Davis doing some Plain Air Painting. While you are here don't miss the chance to tour the greenhouses and see production practices.

John Weddington Greenhouse is now wholesale only. Remember, no poinsettias this year. Several folks have asked, didn't you grow just a few? And the answer is, no. We'll have spring transplants in local garden centers as early as February. We hope that you have a safe and happy holiday season!

We continue to deliver to our garden center customers, many of whom have adapted to curbside pickup models or shopping by appointment. We hope that you and your family stay safe and have a fruitful garden season.

It is with mixed emotion that we share that 2019 will be our last poinsettia crop. The decision involved many factors, not any single consideration. We are so incredibly grateful for the patronage of our poinsettia customers--individuals, churches, businesses, clubs, florists and garden centers--over the past 35 years. What will we do in 2020? Well, we'll still be growing spring and summer flowers and herbs, vegetable transplants, hanging baskets, mums and pansies...and we hope you will, too! From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

John Weddington and family gathered last Saturday for a group photo at their poinsettia greenhouse. This was a very special photo shoot in that it would be the last picture of the family with their colorful poinsettias as the backdrop. This is will be the last year of poinsettia production at John W...
