We had a fantastic day today at Millcreek’s Spring Business Market! 🪴

All our lovely plant babies are now safely tucked back into their nursery at our headquarters. I am incredibly thankful for my team’s amazing effort and how they came together to make this event a success. They carefully packed up and moved our entire plant sale twice today, all to share it with you. I love my Omies 💚

Happy late winter! Before we share a handy, late winter recipe, we want to hear from you if you still need your fruit trees pruned! Spring is just around the corner! Scope us out and sign up for service at www.tinyurl.com/omandgarden

Here’s today’s DIY seed starting mix recipe. It’s super easy to make once you collect the ingredients. You can double the compost and skip the worm castings. You can even skip the vermiculite. For our granular fertilizer we used “Millers A to Z Mix” picked up from our bulk goods partner Replenish Landscape Garden Products; it’s an organic soil stimulator and plant food mix. We are getting pretty excited about the potential results in our seed starting endeavor this year. We’ll be back with a seed sprouting update soon. 💚🌱💚

1 part coconut coir
1/2 part compost
1/2 part worm castings
1 part vermiculite
1 part rice hulls (sub for perlite)
and granular fertilizer per instructions

Ughhhh bindweed 🫠 If you deal with this in your yard then you know what a pain in the a** it is.

Bindweed will quickly entangle itself into the nearest plant and choke them to death. It can sometimes be hard to see as it blends in really well. Always check near the roots of your bushes and plants!

The most important thing to have in order to get rid of your bindweed is persistence and dedication. You will need to pull them by their roots, and any roots left in the soil after cultivation will regenerate in about two weeks- so be prepared to pull plants up every few weeks! (Or have our amazing garden team do it for you 🙃) repetitive cultivation throughout the growing season will deplete their root system.

**If you choose to use poison, do this in the fall. Make sure you remove all flowers first and spray early in the morning before the bees come out for breakfast 🐝
