What is it like to live at Wasatch Commons? The day before we had our first cold snap, folks deforested the basil beds at the Farmette, inverted the mini basil "shrubs", tied them with string to hangers dangling off the staircase, and set them to air dry in a house. After a couple of weeks, they scraped off the dried leaves, crushed, and have stored them in mason jars. The freshly dried basil is wonderful sprinkled in soups or atop salads, or to simply smell on the regular as a relaxation strategy. We also have leftover garlic cloves, either for eating and/or planting from last week's 4th annual garlic planting operation. It's still not too late to plant garlic in your own gardens.
