That yellow coating is pollen from this marigold, and she has no idea how important she is. As she moves from flower to flower collecting it, she transfers pollen between blooms and fertilizes the plant. One in three bites of food we eat exists because of moments exactly like this one.
Marigolds are one of the best pollinator plants you can put in a Texas garden. Open blooms, generous pollen, and they keep producing through the heat. Plant them near your vegetables and watch what shows up.
