If you know Diana you know how kind, thoughtful and generous she is. 10/10 would recommend checking both of these cool plant people out!

Guttation is the expelling of excess water or nutrients through tiny openings on leaves called stomata (basically a plant pore).
People often say the plant is crying, which I think is totally appropriate today as I’m absolutely gutted.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Still... life goes on and my plants remind me of that every day.

🌱1 year ago today I created this account.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I saw that there wasn’t a collective place on IG for people in and around San Antonio that were into plants and all things botanical. I wanted to be able to better connect with these planty people and have a place where they could connect with others as well. Outdoor gardening, indoor gardening, houseplants, hydroponics, holistic healing, magik, herbalism and all manner of activities and hobbies involving plants are welcome! Using the hashtag helps us share our fun, knowledge, goods, plant pics, and explore.
Long story short I saw a need and I wanted to fill that need. I hope you’ve enjoyed this page, this community, and share it with your friends and family.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yours gratefully,
Dorothy

No doubt you need a break from the insane U.S. presidential election coverage that’s dominating life rn so here a nice calming pic of my ZZ that’s lived in leca for months now and is throwing out incredible growth.

11/04/2020

🇺🇸Today is Election Day in the U.S. and so today’s theme is out with the old and in with the new.
Here you see root shedding. These are the roots of a Epipremnum aureum. It was propagated and grown in soil and I took a really long time to transition it to leca. This root shedding comes after having removed it from soil, let it sit for a week (no water), rinsed any subsequent soil off the roots, let it sit in water for a week or so then finally removed it from water and helped remove its soil roots (the brown part) to show its water roots that were growing. I had to text Rachel (.in.plants) just to assure myself it would all be ok.
If you’re ever curious or questionable about a “plant thing” reach out to your fam. We all got you!

*How are you just gonna drop all these leaves on me like I don’t provide you your own humidifier, FLF?*
🍂
Acclimation is a real thing and some plants acclimate faster and better than others. Ficus lyrata is notorious for being a bit of an acclimation diva in this house. I wanted to transition my new FLF to leca and repot it, but with the time it’s taking to acclimate, winter coming and dormancy about to kick in I’m just gonna leave it in its nursery grow pot, keep the humidifier on it and wait until spring to transition, repot and propagate.

This bougainvillea loves to climb but you can always trim it back. In Texas, this beautiful plant can grow until temps drop down to freezing.

My wife & I were super psyched (pardon the pun☠️) to gift this super cool planter and one of my favorite plants to these two! I already put in an order for more planters so if you want one too you should check out Rae’s page, and if you want a reading or cleansing (l*z be honest who doesn’t need a good cleansing with 2020 being what it is in addition to having all these retrogrades?) dm or email Fred (info on their page). @ San Antonio, Texas
