There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing my sculptures living and breathing in their forever home, this time, a serene retreat in the Hamptons. These pieces were created purely as art, and seeing them placed with such intention is a reminder of why I do what I do.

As I move into this next chapter, I’m feeling inspired to focus on functional art. Sculptural forms that serve a purpose and elevate the everyday. I can’t wait to share what’s coming.

Excited to share my first hardware collection, a blend of digital design precision and handcrafted artistry.

Each piece begins with digital modeling, moves into additive prototyping, and is then molded and carefully fabricated by hand. Rather than mass production, I focus on creating unique, made-to-order pieces tailored specifically for individual spaces.

The parametric nature of these designs allows for meaningful customization—not just in material, color, and finish, but also in size and texture. Materials include cast acrylic or crystal glass combined with cast bronze, which can be plated in metals like rose gold, silver, or copper.

This collection is about creating functional art that genuinely resonates with personal taste, turning everyday moments into thoughtful, tactile experiences.

Life has a way of shaping our art just as it shapes our hearts. After getting married and with fatherhood just around the corner, I’ve felt a pull toward home—not just in life, but in what I create.

For years, I poured myself into gallery work—beautiful, time-intensive pieces that often lived detached from daily life. But as I leaned into commission-based projects, something clicked: there's profound meaning in creating art that already belongs somewhere. Pieces with purpose. Art that’s lived with.

Now, with Jess by my side and our little one on the way, I’m entering a new era. I’ve launched Hibri Design Studios, where function meets form, and analog artistry blends with digital innovation. Every piece is made-to-order—sculptures become door handles, mirrors, lighting and wall pieces. Not just seen, but used. Felt. Loved.

This next chapter is about legacy—crafting pieces that live in homes, hold memories, and grow alongside families. I can’t wait to reveal my debut collection of functional luxury hardware and share how this creative evolution has brought deeper purpose, balance, and joy.

Digital design is so clean and pragmatic but there’s nothing like shaping clay with hands and tools. Started this some time ago with a good buddy, . Put some time into it yesterday. I think she wants to be a table top or a wall piece - what do you think?

So my lovely wifey asked me to do something with a plain mirror. She didn’t want me wasting too much time on it so gave me 30 minutes to design. I came up with four designs and she picked this one. Some printing then a few hours of gluing, sanding, priming, air brushing and lighting installation and she was done. It’s so fun to go from concept to reality so, relatively, quickly. So… how’d I do?

Sitting on our living room floor, my fiancé and I were captivated by the stream of visualizations flowing from Midjourney, an AI tool reshaping my art process. We were finalizing the aesthetic for a large wall piece for our bedroom, marveling at how quickly we could see countless possibilities—such a contrast to just two years ago.

Back then, I was engrossed in a project for a client who wanted bespoke art for his downtown condo. I had delved deep into his personality, envisioned what he wanted the piece to evoke, and even surveyed his space to find the ideal spot for the sculpture. It was my first time leveraging digital rendering for a commissioned project, and after weeks of work, when the client chose a design, I was thrilled. But just as we were about to start, he unexpectedly backed out, teaching me a hard lesson about the risks and inefficiencies of traditional methods.

This reflection came as my fiancé and I aligned on a design within hours—a stark shift from the weeks it once took. Generative AI like Midjourney has revolutionized my workflow, allowing me to prototype and refine concepts quickly, drastically reducing the time and risk involved in realization. This ability to swiftly validate ideas is crucial for staying competitive in today’s fast-paced art world.

As we prepare to create this personal piece, the transformation AI has brought from painful lessons to empowering solutions is clear. It not only accelerates the creative process but also enhances our decision-making, allowing for informed, practical choices that meld with our aesthetic vision and the functional needs of our space.

This journey from a frustrating client interaction to planning art for our home highlights the vital role of AI in modern design. It demonstrates that quickly validating ideas is essential for any artist aiming to thrive in this new era.

Standing in my studio, filled with the mixed emotions of excitement and nerves, I was about to demold what I thought would be my best work yet—a medium-sized acrylic table, my first commission of its kind. But as the casting emerged, my heart sank. Bubbles, uneven surfaces; it was far from the high-quality I pride myself on delivering. I had lost $1200 worth of material in what turned out to be a disastrous first attempt.

I was hopeful that vacuum degassing the material and heating the mold would be enough, but I was wrong. My standard process when casting acrylic is to vacuum degas the resin and pressure cast in a heated mold, but this casting wouldn’t fit my seven gallon pressure chamber, which is the biggest commercially available.

Realizing that continuing with bespoke commissions meant upgrading my capabilities, I faced a daunting challenge. No one manufactures a custom, heated, pressure chamber due to the high risks—it’s essentially designing a bomb. But necessity is the mother of invention, so I took on the task myself.

With a healthy dose of caution, I designed and built a 75-gallon pressure/vacuum chamber capable of handling 50 thousand pounds of force—the weight of like ten elephants!  I’m not going to lie, I hid behind a 1” thick plexiglass shield when I first kicked the compressor on.

Now, reflecting on the clear, bubble-free final product, I understand more deeply that the principles of ideal casting—vacuum degassing, consistent heat, and adequate pressure—are crucial at any scale. In fact, these factors become even more critical as the scale increases. This makes the creation of my pressure chamber not just a solution for this one project, but a pivotal tool for anything I create at this scale moving forward.

I want to convey my gratitude to the San Antonio Museum of Art and it's wonderful docents for converging on my home studio for an unforgettable 2-hour studio tour and talk.

I had the pleasure of sharing my unique perspectives on art, with a special focus on the mesmerizing world of glass art.

The energy and enthusiasm during the tour were off the charts, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to interact with such an amazing group of art enthusiasts. It even looks like a process is starting that would culminate in a reason to celebrate... but I won't announce anything until it's real and final.
