Rebuilding Notre Dame
In 2019 during a maintenance project, the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral caught fire and destroyed the entirety of the cathedral roof. President Macron set a 5-year deadline to restore the sacred structure. In 2023, work began to recreate the medieval timber frame exclusively with handheld tools as originally used in its inception. The government contract to rebuild Notre Dame explicitly spelled out the need for traditional building practices to keep the structure as close to the original as possible. There is still work that needs to be done in the restoration, but it will partially reopen in Dec of 2024 for mass and tourism.

Happy 2024!

When do you stop saying Happy New Year? Perhaps after the Chinese Lunar New Year? We met with a client for a remodel to their home which they had just purchased & had not yet moved in. The house was built in the 1950s & while we were checking out the infrastructure we observed galvanized water pipes, asbestos furnace ducts & electrical fuses which all need to be replaced when we remodel. The big white ducts are asbestos, the grey pipes are galvi & the old fuses are glass! Got an old house that needs remodeling? Call us!
