Turns out, “the backsplash” is never just one decision when you’re an interior designer. 😅

There’s the tile color, finish, size, layout, grout color, grout width... and that’s before we move on to the island, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, and everything else.

We mayyyy be a little detail obsessed, but when hundreds of tiny decisions come together to create one really great kitchen, we’d say it’s worth it. 😉

A living room with a grand piano is already showing off a little, so we figured the rest of the room might as well keep up. 🎹😉

Patterned upholstery, a tiled arched niche, a little fireplace detail, and plenty of layers give this room personality without competing with the architecture. And yes, we will always find an excuse for a really good pattern.

Proof that “grown-up” and “fun” can, in fact, live in the same room. ✨

An ode to seagulls, because we’ll never forgive them for stealing our beach lunch...
..but we’ll happily put them on the wallpaper. 😉

This powder bath is proof that a little personality goes a long way. Sometimes all it takes is a playful wallpaper to turn a small space into one of the most memorable rooms in the house.

(P.S. These are definitely the best-behaved seagulls we’ve met.)

Okay, that’s a lie. We have a few. 😏

A rug should actually fit the room. Curtains belong closer to the ceiling than the window. And matching furniture sets? We’ll politely try to talk you out of them.

The funny thing is, none of these “design hills” are really about aesthetics. They’re about creating homes that feel balanced, intentional, and comfortable to live in.

One of our goals for this home was to create spaces that bring people together, along with incorporating existing pieces that hold dear memories for our clients.

When we first looked at the layout of this room, we knew we wanted it to be more than just a place to watch movies. Instead of dedicating every square foot to lounging and watching TV, we created a second gathering space centered around conversation, connection, and a little friendly competition.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This game table hs been with this family for years and has seen so many puzzles created, monopoly takeovers, and some pretty serious poker games. Creating a cozy spot with new comfortable chairs it has become one of our favorite spots in the house. A place for after-dinner backgammon matches, late-night conversations, a shared drink, and the kind of moments that are easy to miss when everyone’s staring at a screen.

We love designing rooms that support the way our clients want to live, and this space feels like the perfect reminder that some of the best moments at home happen when we put our phones down and simply enjoy being together.

Behind every finished project you see on our feed is a day spent fluffing pillows, adjusting artwork by fractions of an inch, rearranging stems, and chasing the perfect light.

Last week, we photographed our newest Scripps Ranch project with , and it was a dream come true. Seeing months (and sometimes years) of planning, decisions, and collaboration come to life through beautiful photography is one of our favorite parts of the process.

Even better? This shoot was a whole lot of fun. Great clients, a beautiful home, and a team that makes the day feel less like work and more like celebrating all that went into the project.

Once we completed the design of this dining doom - it stopped us dead in our tracks. Just look at her in all her glory… ✨

While the kitchen may be the heart of the home, this dining space was designed to be its new best friend. A place for lingering over meals, gathering with friends, celebrating milestones, and slowing down at the end of the day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The custom olive green cabinetry adds both beauty and function, offering storage for everything from everyday essentials to pieces collected over the years. Rich walnut tones bring warmth and contrast, while the rich olive millwork and delicate wallpaper create a sense of depth and character that feels both timeless and inviting.

Comfortable, welcoming, and designed for gathering. Just the way a dining room should be.
