AMD has officially wrapped up construction at Alliant University California School of Education Building. We’ve transformed this 1960s office building into a state-of-the-art training ground for occupational therapy students. The focus of the new building is home independence and universal accessibility.
The highlights:
🏗️ Hidden History: We stripped away old ceiling panels to reveal the original structural beams, giving the main learning space an open, modern feel.
🌳 Nature-Inspired: Large windows keep students connected to the campus greenery, creating a calm, restorative environment for learning. 
🐝 The Bee Story: We took our “Save the Bees” mission seriously! We safely relocated hives from the roof parapets not once, but twice, to ensure the local ecosystem stayed intact.

We’re so proud to provide a space that will help future OT professionals change lives!

✨ Now Open: 2026 City of San Diego Preservation Awards!
The City of San Diego is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Preservation Awards, honoring projects, activities, and individuals with an outstanding commitment to historic preservation.

Awards recognize excellence in preservation projects, preservation activities, and people in preservation, from rehabilitation and adaptive reuse to education, research, and community leadership.

📅 Nominations are due February 27, 2026
🏆 Winners announced in May during National Historic Preservation Month

A huge thank you to our panelists, Victor Navarro, AIA, Keith York, Daniel López-Pérez, PhD, Patricia Cue, and to Dean Noelle Norton for guiding a powerful conversation on the history and influence of our historic work in our region.

Wrapping up our ✨ Zoo edition ✨ week with throwing it way back to 1975 and showcasing this vintage gem of a project; San Diego Zoo Hospital; designed by us back when bell bottoms were in and blueprints were still drawn by hand. ✍️
 
We’ve been working with the Zoo since ‘75, and while the animals (and outfits) have changed, our love for these wild projects never has. 🐾💙
