L. Watson Design & Co

L. Watson Design & Co Imaginative Urban Gardens L. Watson Design specializes in bringing elegance and horticultural interest to your urban home. Ms. At L.

With a background in Environmental Design and Sustainability and her passion for horticulture, Ms. Leigh Watson Adams brings much more to the table than your average landscape designer. She transforms the art of container plantings to another level of taste and refinement. Her diverse background in the arts and her travels to gardens all over the world, have made her a thoughtful, globally conscio

us designer. Her success is an attribute to the relationships she cultivates with her clients. Watson Adams believes that, “In order for me to create successful design, I must understand my clients and build a relationship with them on many levels. Successful design reflects the taste and lifestyle of the client while enhancing their quality of life or place of business. Cultivating a good relationship with my clients is my foremost concern.”

There are few designers out there that can call themselves horticulturalists. Most designers will install a garden or container planting identical to the one your neighbors yard. Leigh Watson Adams has lived her life and found success by being aware of trends and utilizing the elements of good design, while simultaneously juxtaposing the unusual and unexpected. Watson Design we pride ourselves on hard work and dedication. We do not hire outside help; Ms. Adams designs, installs, and maintains your property with her own hands. Our client Pete, 81 years young. This guy has lived a life from the peace corps, to professor taking his students to far off places, to running an apple orchard for the past ten years in Bozeman, MT. 81 years young, he spent the day insisting on moving rocks with us for his brand new all native plant garden.

Estate garden preparations underway for our clients hosting Spring garden tours. This spectacular Point Loma Zen garden will be open to the public for one day only at the end of April. Further details to follow. One of our unadvertised expertises is the care, prep, and design updates to estate properties and historical properties. Long Hill Estates in Beverly, MA and Castle Hill gardens were my childhood playgrounds and when my parents bought an old historical house in Marblehead, Massachusetts owned by the Lipton Tea Family, the renovation of the estate became our weekend pastime. We know how to honor the spirit of these special properties and do so with time honored practices. I’m excited to share more about this property and visiting details as they are released!

Spent the afternoon in National City thanks to a busted tire. Stumbled upon some historic homes, funky shops, and herbal medicine shops. I can see why people are saying this part of SD is seeing a revitalization. Sometimes a rainy day or flat tire are the only reasons for us to slow down while we are in SD, but today was a reminder there’s a lot of inspiration to be found right here at home!

Proud to announce we are officially a member of the California Green Business Network by meeting qualifying criteria in various initiatives to reduce emissions, divert solid waste, and improve purchasing choices just to name a few. Today we met with a partner to review options for our employees. There are so many great resources available for businesses to become more sustainable. Excited to keep moving on this path to a better version of us.

What does it mean to live off the grid? These homes on the outskirts of Taos, NM explore sustainable building practices in a radical way. Built from upcycled materials, these homes rely on passive solar systems, rainwater harvesting, and composting of waste materials. This radical way of life is not for everyone but there are principles we can apply to our urban San Diego lives too. Oh New Mexico, the words of Edward Abbey echo in the canyons out here.

Pretty sweet day connecting with other professionals passionate about biophilia and doing cool work in our inner city communities! Honored to listen to the legend speak about his life and work; fired up by the way the girls of Arteatolondrada have followed their passion, and stoked on the future of algae as a building material after talk on turning CO2 emissions into energy using algae (check out the Freeway Alge Garden in Geneva🇨🇭 Shared lunch with a rad group of girls doing innovative work in architecture, design, and engineering.
Thanks for putting on another sweet event!

Our project is taking shape with this steel frame Lynx pergola that went up today! Our client liked the look of custom steel framed pergolas with cedar slatting but did not have the budget for a custom build. The Lynx system we picked up from is a good alternative. Cedar starting up next!

We designed this kid friendly low water functional space for activities and entertaining for this sweet couple who welcomed their baby boy into the world last night! Mangaris deck and dock to capture western facing views, low water grass, and outdoor wash station that drains to a swale to retain water on site. New flagstone pathways meander through established oak trees and Esteban built out a set of stairs that will one day lead to a raised veggie bed. Railings to come on the dock before the kid becomes mobile 😉.
