We're back with a brand new bath remodel! Prior to this renovation, this bathroom was pretty standard; it got the job done, but left a lot to be desired in both style and function. Our primary focus with this bathroom was to maximize usable space and give it some personality. To do this, we replaced the tub shower with a walk in, using large format tiles on the wall to give it a sleek modern look. We also built a custom vanity and installed a large, storage medicine cabinet to increase available space. One of our favorite parts - the diagonal corner wall! As you can see in the before photo, there was an empty corner taking up space. We were able to eliminate it and add in another custom shelving unit and increase storage.

As promised, here are the details from one of the highlighted remodels from our last post!

This 1940s home was full of personality and detail, but this bathroom was very clearly clashing with the rest of the house.

The home owner wanted something classic and elegant, and desperately wanted to open up the space.

To do this, we reconfigured the bathroom to feel more open and to make better use of the space they had.

We updated the color pallet, and switched out the dated tile floors for a 1x1 marble hex. For the shower, we went with the Bedrosian's Cloe tile series - these keep with the classic look while adding visual interest with their shape and texture.

Now for the stand outs - our client knew they wanted to do something special with the tub, so we set their drop in with shaker panels and marble top detailing, adding elegance. And the stars of the space - the tub filler and shower system! These Perrin and Rowe Edwardian style fixtures are not only beautiful, but they are solid brass, making them extremely durable!

Things are not always what they seem…

This client was awesome! We loved working with her and she was referred by 2 other previous clients who we also loved working with. With that being said the overall project was one roadblock after another. She had worked with a tile installer on a previous project at her home and she was admit on using him on this project. We prefer not to navigate around subcontractors we are unfamiliar with and this project is a perfect example to why we feel that way. From the get go the tile sub was difficult to communicate with and ultimately did not want to take true responsibility for any of his flaws. He was incredibly slow on his tile work and ultimately walked off the job (aka completely bailed) since he was not skilled enough to do it. We had to bring in our tile guy who luckily was willing to correct and finish the project our clients tile sub had started. The previous tile sub did not reimburse the client with any of the funds she provided to him which he should have, it took an extra 4 weeks to complete the project due to his delays and we ultimately had to go in and correct many issues he created.

In the end, the bathroom turned out beautifully and we got it done the day before her big holiday party (thank goodness) but we do feel it is important to highlight the potential downfalls that can happen on projects if we (or whoever your trusted GC is) are not allowed to fully navigate and lead projects with in-house crews and trusted subcontractors.

It's always good to look forward in the new year, but with a bathroom this gorgeous, we can't help but look back!
We completed a lot of incredible projects in 2023, but this is certainly one of our most impressive. From the honed herringbone marble floors, to the walk-in shower and the champagne bronze fixtures, this bathroom is a truly luxurious space.

What stayed: Nothing!

What changed: Almost everything! As you can see from the before photos, this bathroom is very spacious, but awkwardly shaped. To maximize this space, we completely changed the layout and reframed the room, creating straight lines and removing the odd, angular shape of the old vanity wall that limited the layout. Once reframed, we were able to use the extra space for custom recessed cabinets, using dead space behind the wall and providing the clients the storage they didn’t know existed. From there, we went from the floor up! One of our favorite features of this space is the incredible marble herringbone floors - The timelessness of the marble instantly elevates the atmosphere, providing a sense of opulence that resonates throughout. Continuing with the shower, we removed the wall that closed off the shower and created an open feel with a marble bench providing seating and a place for the new glass to sit on bringing in even more visibility and natural light. We used honed penny marble tile for the flooring and accent feature in the niche bringing in more personality without having to change the continuity of the marble bathroom as a whole. To tie the entire space together, we introduced champagne bronze and matte black finishes along with a beautiful custom-built blue green raised panel vanity complimenting the natural hues within the marble stone throughout—small details that make a big impact. Cheers to 2024 and bringing more spaces to life!

Another bathroom remodel on the books!

What stayed: The Layout, the window and the wall texture

What changed: Everything else! Our client loves clean lines and durability, so we let that inspire the build. To start off, we removed the dated Corian vanity, replacing it with a custom-built 9 drawer flat panel walnut cabinet and quartz top vanity. We also removed the large single mirror and replaced it with two recessed medicine cabinets, giving each side of the vanity a more dedicated space and storage. For the tub shower, we removed the protruding wall space, allowing for a larger shower and tub. We also went with a vertical, matte subway tile that gives the space clean lines and accentuated the bathroom's tall 9’ ceilings. For the floor, we removed the dated vinyl sheeting, and replaced it with 12x24 cement style porcelain tiles, giving the space a clean and modern look. To top it all off, we went with simple, linear light fixtures and matte black fixtures for the sinks and shower.

This kitchen!! Okay - so there is a LOT we can say about this remodel. From the quartzite counter tops to the custom cabinets, this kitchen is a dream for design lovers and chefs a like! One of our favorite features of this kitchen is the floor. This floor tile is made from Belgian Bluestone. If you haven't heard of it - don't worry, we hadn't either! Belgian Bluestone is a sedimentary rock that stands out not only for its rich, deep grey/blue color, but also for its gorgeous inclusions. Many of which are small fossils (these are all the small white spots you can see in the pictures)! How cool is that?! What's your favorite part of this gorgeous remodel?

Soothing earth tones and deep moody shades are among the most popular colors this year. Here are all the 2024 colors of the year that have been announced so far, including shades of blue, a terra-cotta orange, and dark olive green.

For this bathroom makeover, accessibility was our number one goal. This client needed to make some updates to their existing bathroom to accommodate their changing accessibility needs. These projects are always very important to us – as life and needs change, your space should change too. Everyone’s home should be just that; a place where you can be truly comfortable, where all of your needs are met, and your quality of life is at its best. Accessibility is a beautiful thing, and we wanted this space to reflect that in every way!
