May 7th marked the one year anniversary of the grand opening of the Santa Rosa Cannery in Santa Rosa, California. The project added 129 units ranging from studios to two bedrooms to the area of Santa Rosa. It also created new outdoor space and a new public promenade to connect the Santa Rosa bike and pedestrian path and Historic Railroad Square. The Cannery showcases the thoughtful ways historical elements can be preserved and integrated into new development.

The project maintained the site’s original brick masonry, water tower, and metal canopy, honoring the sites industrial history. We are proud that the project received the Excellence in Construction Award from the North Bay Business Journal and was recognized as the “Best North Bay Residential Project.”

Cheers to Santa Rosa Cannery’s one year old birthday! 🎉

Interiors are an essential component of architectural design, shaping how spaces are experienced and inhabited. At SSDP, we take a thoughtful and intentional approach to interior conditions on every project, recognizing their role in fostering community and creating a sense of home. Through careful attention to detail and a strong commitment to design excellence, our team crafts interiors that are both functional and meaningful, elevating everyday environments while supporting the people who use them.

We are proud to highlight several of our interiors from past projects that we are proud to bring to life!!

Happy Earth Day from SSDP! 🌎♻️🌋

This year, we’re proud to highlight our Santa Rosa Cannery project, which opened last May. Delivering 129 affordable housing units to the Santa Rosa community in Marin County, the project reflects a commitment to both social impact and environmental responsibility.

Santa Rosa Cannery integrates a range of sustainable strategies, including bioswales and retention basins for effective stormwater management, high-performance insulation across walls, roofs, and windows, and specially designed green spaces featuring native, drought-tolerant landscaping.

On Earth Day, we celebrate projects like this that demonstrate how design can support both people and the planet.

SSDP had the pleasure of participating in the Black Liberation Walking Tour in Oakland on April 10. The tour provided an in-depth exploration of the city’s role with particular attention to the legacy of the Black Panther Party. Key sites, narratives, and figures highlighted Oakland’s history of activism and community empowerment.

This spring marks the 12th anniversary of 474 Natoma Street Family Apartments. The development provides 60 affordable housing units to the SoMa neighborhood in San Francisco, California. The Green Point Silver certified building includes a landscape courtyard and public art piece on the front façade of the elevator tower, giving the project a unique and personalized element. We had the pleasure of collaborating with LMSA for this project!
