Today we’re repotting some SG N. Clipeata. These four younger plants sprouted in 2020, but I’ve always considered them the slower ones. The two largest plants are about 20” in diameter.

N. Weda is finally exhibiting strong growth. This species has proven particularly challenging to cultivate, as it is highly sensitive to elevated light levels and performs best in an inorganic substrate with a high iron content. Despite its lowland origins, it has demonstrated greater cold tolerance than anticipated, withstanding nighttime temperatures in the low 60s°F this past winter without any apparent ill effects.

Both N. Macrophylla and N. Diabolica love rooting in coco chips. The former has a variegated clone, but it’s unclear if this will remain stable. These should be ready in time for the June BACPS sale!

N. Tomoriana, this species grew alongside N. Mirabilis in rocky, volcanic soil. This species has been a struggle for me but seeing the soil in-situ gives me more ideas of an appropriate medium. Notably, this species was completely absent in the mirabilis-dominated swamps.
