Foggy Gardener

Foggy Gardener Started gardening due to COVID, but my microclimate is windy and foggy. Along the way, I built a pond with a bog filter for water plants.

Here is my trials and tribulations of trying to grow stuff.

I see baby cherries! Update to my Royal Lee cherry tree, they need a pollinator and my Minnie Royal bloomed just in time. Now hoping they don’t drop as it’s only their second year.

I like these solar tiki bug zappers more than I thought. Not much of a bug zapper as I only see a couple of dead bugs in the 8 months i had them, but enjoy the light they give out at night.

My grocery store bought mitsuba have successfully established in my raised bed. Mitsuba is also called wild Japanese parsley but the taste is much more subtle and with more of a mild celery taste. I find it a necessity in Dashi broth.

At the Asian grocery store they come with roots when you buy the herbs as they are grown in hydroponics.

I moved my blueberry bushes from there containers to the raised bed about a month ago and looks like they love it. Got some fruit while in containers, but definitely much better in the raised bed.

Spring is coming, early? Then again my first spring since I started gardening, so not sure if normal. More of my dormant trees waking up. Excited to see the Japanese Maples waking from slumber.

The thrill of seeing your dormant cherry tree waking up, but the crash when you realize it’s pollinator partner is still dormant.

Minnie royal cherry tree is blossoming but her partner Royal Lee and Crimson Royals are just starting to wake up. Hoping at least for some flowers to blossom together for the later two.

I find these slender salamanders all over my yard. Assuming they are friends and I try to be careful when lifting up pots and containers as they are fragile.
