Bringing Community and Nature Together

Envisioned for Cotati, California, Cotati Cottages & Apartments is a thoughtfully planned community concept that explores the integration of residential living with agrarian and ecological values. The design proposes 34 detached cottages ranging from 775 to 2,500 square feet, alongside 8 rental apartments at 475 square feet—totaling 42 units.
The site concept incorporates on-site vineyard farming, raised garden beds, chicken coops, a community garden center, and preserved natural habitats—promoting sustainability and deeper connection to the land. A central community hub and generous open space are imagined to foster social interaction and encourage outdoor living.
Proposed amenities include two enclosed parking structures designed to provide 68 resident spaces and 42 guest parking spots—balancing functionality with environmental stewardship.

Eclectic Farmhouse from HHJA Custom Studio > This Danville property boasts six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a gym, ample access to its large lot, plus an upcoming ADU. The cozy outdoor lanai with a fireplace and wrap-around trellis provides easy indoor-outdoor entertainment throughout the year. Project completion of Lantana at Milpitas Station. The urban mixed-use project contains 216 residential rental units on a 2.35-acre infill site next to a new transit hub. The building is four and five levels of Type V-A and Type III construction. It encompasses a city block and includes interior courtyards with a pool, multiple amenity spaces, leasing offices, and street-front commercial space.

The apartments sit on top of two levels of below-ground parking. The building is designed to engage its urban street edges with ground-floor amenity spaces, a lobby leasing and business center, and anchored with a two-story retail space and an outdoor plaza.

Once inside the building, two unique and separate courtyards provide private outdoor amenity spaces, one with a large resort pool, spa, and outdoor kitchen. And the other is a passive courtyard and includes a yoga and exercise area, a reflection fountain, and meditative sitting areas.

HHJA recently completed>Realm is located within a transit-oriented development community and is USGBC LEED Silver Certified. The 27 one, two & three-bedroom unit plans provide below and market-rate housing.

Individual units feature first-floor walk-up patios, third-floor pop-up ceilings, and transoms windows. Amenities include a fitness center with outdoor exercise space, bike storage, a courtyard with seating, and a BBQ area.

Our team worked seamlessly with the city’s planning department through conformance memos and entitlement to generate an approved and aesthetically conscience-forward design. With permit approvals, HHJA maintained a fast-paced schedule and collaborative process between the client, architect, and GC to capture all prerequisites and LEED accreditation
