I recently revisited Arcosanti, after about 10 years with my dear friend Vera. I came away with a much more positive feeling about the endeavor that is Arcosanti. It might feel like an experiment that failed, but having had the benefit of staying there for a night, the good intentions and efforts of so many people trying to change the paradigm felt palpable.

We are excited to have the Atherton House recognized by an international jury in a very different part of the world; it's always interesting to observe jury selections in cultural areas different from ours. The Big SEE awards are centered in South East Europe, which includes Italy and Austria, but mostly the Balkans and Turkey. It's fascinating to see this project in the context of the other jury selections. Thank you to Bruce Damonte for the great photographs.

Thank you to ARCHITECTURE MASTERPRIZE for the recent Honorable Mention awarded to the Cow Hollow House.

This project involved a remodel and a small addition to an existing two-story family home located in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow neighborhood. Originally designed in 1917 by architect Elizabeth Austin, one of the few American women architects active in the early 20th century, it was a privilege to protect her vision while bringing the residence into a new era.

We also extend our gratitude to our collaborators: De Mattei Construction, GFDS Engineers, Scott Lewis Landscape Architect, and Joe Fletcher Photography for their hard work.
