Yerba Buena Island. Quarters 8. Designed by Reid Brothers Architects as a one off during WWII. Quarters 1 is the Chester Nimitz house. Quarters 10 is the Frank Lloyd Wright influence. All Quarters 1 through 10, except 8 remain. 8 was demolished to make way for the new offramp of the SF Bay Bridge on to YBI.

During WWII, housing was in dire need to be built. Quarters 1, is the Nimitz house, for Admiral Chester Nimitz who lived in their until he died. Most quarters were standard builds, but Quarters 9 was a home that was designed by Reid Brothers Architects as a one off design. Since torn down to make way for the new Bay Bridge, we are still looking for pictures. Quarters 10 was moved down the hill on to Treasure Island in the last few years due to the Frank Lloyd wright influence and another one off build.

A couple of versions of Cliff House. The bottom one was the Reid Brothers Architects version in 1896-1907.

The Del was built in 1898, and designed by the Reid Brothers Architects. Now, in 2024, the Del main structure is closed as Hilton does a major refit and renovation of the original hotel. Over times the stairs lean a little, the hallways go up and down and maybe doors are a little titlted . Look forward to completion in about a year. The facade and front lobby, front area was all restored and completed last year and the quality is outstanding and is back to original state when it was built!

The Cliff House will open once again! A new contract between the National Park Service and a new operator intends to re-open in 2024. What will it bring?
