“Makena Guesthouse and the main house were designed to be siblings with different personalities,” says Partner Greg Warner. “The guest quarters, which don’t have such a heavy lift as far as program, are more casual, a bit rougher, more playful.”

At Cloud Nine Ranch, a cypress-clad barn with a simple gabled form stands in the landscape. Traditional in appearance, it’s a flexible space for gathering and connection—with one another and with the land.

As reported by The New York Times, Flowers Vineyard and Winery is now open with a new outdoor “touchless” tasting experience. When the project began years ago, it was always the intent for the architecture to take a back seat and let the landscapes drive, focusing attention on the amazing wines and gardens. This new prepaid, reservation-only tasting is a breath of fresh air in outdoor experiences.

Kathy Scott was recently featured in , sharing her personal and professional journey from Long Island to the Bay Area. Now a partner and principal at Walker Warner Architects, she was only the third employee when she joined the team 25 years ago and “very much grew up with the firm." She reflects upon her career, mentoring the next generation of designers to achieve the highest quality of work, and always enjoying the process along the way.

“Architecture and interior are ultramodern and yet rely heavily on traditional materials and touchstones. Old and new ebb and flow as easily as the tides right outside the home's copious sliding-glass doors.”

Thanks to Interior Design Magazine for the lovely feature on one of our recently completed Hawaii retreats. The issue is available now in print and online.

Once a year, Dreams Happen challenges architects and builders to create their vision for the modern playhouse, which will then be auctioned off for charity. This year, Walker Warner Architects teamed up with Lencioni Construction and Daedalus Structural Engineering to design and build the Push, Pull, Explore Playhouse.

The final result will be on display at the Stanford Shopping Mall until the auction on June 1st. All proceeds will go Rebuilding Together Peninsula to help our Bay Area neighbors.

A huge thank you to our collaborators and suppliers for making Dreams Happen.

Thanks to AIA San Francisco - AIASF for recognizing the hard work that went into our Kua Bay project, which won a Architecture Citation Award at the AIA SF Design Awards last week!⁣⠀

“The jury found this project to be refreshing in its simplicity and restraint. The materials are beautiful and deftly handled. In framing its gorgeous site, the structure becomes less of a mundane object and more of a platform for the experiences of relaxation, escape, and an appreciation of nature.”⁣⠀
