Demo day is more than just removing what's old—it's one of the most valuable moments in the renovation process. Before anything new goes in, we walk the space with our partners at Fascon Construction to review conditions, problem-solve in real time, and make key decisions while the walls are open.

At the project, this stage is where the design truly evolves. Strong collaboration before installation helps minimize surprises, refine the details, and ensure the finished space reflects both the vision and the realities of the build.

Sourcing and selecting art is one of my favorite phases of the design process.

The right piece of artwork can add personality, create a focal point, and tell a story that makes a house feel uniquely yours. When I’m sourcing for clients, I love finding pieces that bring meaning, character, and a sense of connection to a space.

One of my favorite local spots to explore is , a contemporary art gallery in downtown Morgan Hill featuring works from dozens of artists and thoughtfully curated exhibitions. It’s a wonderful source of inspiration and a reminder that art isn’t just décor, it’s what helps make a space feel connected.

Regionally recognized by National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), this primary bathroom renovation was honored with a Gold Award—an achievement that reflects both thoughtful design and exceptional collaboration. Sharing this recognition with one of my industry partners - .tile, and seeing my client genuinely delighted with the outcome, makes the accomplishment especially meaningful.

A closer look at the material palette reveals the foundation of the design. The flooring features a 12" x 24" Revesta Calacatta Vintage Satin porcelain tile, sourced from Italy, offering a refined marble-inspired aesthetic with a soft, luminous finish. Complementing this, the vertical surfaces are clad in Osaka Maple 24" x 48" porcelain tile from Spain, introducing warmth and subtle texture that balances the overall composition. One of the most important aspects of the design process is ensuring clients feel confident and informed at every stage.

It comes down to clear communication, hands-on material selections, and experiencing finishes within the context of your actual space before anything is installed. That level of intention helps the process feel seamless—and ensures the final result feels both cohesive and right for the home.

This is what stepping into a project mid-renovation often looks like—taking the time to assess what’s already been completed, understand what’s working, and identify where adjustments may be needed.

These conversations are where true alignment happens: walking the space, evaluating decisions in real time, and ensuring every next step is intentional, elevated, and supports how the home will ultimately be lived in and experienced.
