We’re proud that recently the Folsom City Council unanimously approved the Folsom River District Vision Plan!  The Plan envisions a creative and balanced combination of enhanced recreational amenities, river access improvements, and innovative economic development opportunities along a stunning 6-mile stretch of the American River. We are grateful to our team-mates Ascent Environmental, Inc. and Economic and Planning Systems (EPS) for their contributions to this unique and visionary project to reconnect the community with its historic waterway.

Happy ! We’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of urban designers & planners who shape the spaces where we live, work, and play. From sustainable development to vibrant public spaces, thoughtful planning makes our communities and neighborhoods more livable, inclusive, and resilient.

The City of Thousand Oaks is transforming the Civic Arts Plaza into a vibrant downtown hub! Highlights include a new town square (that isn’t square), a ‘car-tolerant’ Main Street, preserved oak trees, a new City Hall, mixed-use buildings with homes, shops, restaurants, and plenty of cultural and recreational spaces. Stay tuned for a more connected and lively community!

We've got exciting news! RRM Design Group and local Santa Barbara, landscape architecture firm Parryi Studio are joining forces! Katie Klein and her team have created incredible work with a vision of spaces which emphasize the well being of their users. It is the alignment of our values that led us to one another, and we can't wait to see how our combined team will strengthen the breadth and quality of services we provide to our clients.

May went by fast and was an absolute blast! Here are some highlights from the past month:

1) Principals and Associates Off-Site: Our leadership team gathered in picturesque Santa Monica for their annual 2-day training & development off-site, which included an Enneagram deep dive, morning yoga on the beach, and a visit to the Getty Villa on the Malibu coast.

2) Station Design Conference: We were thrilled to attend the Station Design Conference in Saint Louis, Missouri. Not only did we showcase our work at an exhibit booth, but we also had the privilege of speaking on the topic of designing gender-inclusive fire stations.

3) Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC): 13 RRMers headed to Anaheim for the prestigious PCBC, where we immersed ourselves in the latest industry trends and innovations. During the conference, we had the chance to attend the PCBC Gold Nugget Award ceremony and although we didn't win a grand award, it was an awesome opportunity to connect with fellow designers and developers that we frequently work with.

6) KaiRONMAN: Our very own Civil Engineer, Kai, participated in the Morro Bay IRONMAN event, pushing to the limit while swimming, biking, and running to the finish line and finishing in the top 25%. He had his very own RRM cheer squad rallying him on throughout the journey!

5) SLO Office Championship Ping Pong Match: Our San Luis Obispo office has been hosting a ping-pong tournament over the past few months and a few weeks ago, the final contenders battled it out for the title of "Ultimate Ping Pong Champion of the Universe!" The energy and competitiveness were off the charts!

6) Best Firms to Work For Three Years Running: Just last week we received notice that we are being recognized for the third year in a row as a Best Firm to Work. This recognition highlights our commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging, and inspiring work environment. Stay tuned for the upcoming celebrations!
