Local Non-Profit Spotlight: Hospice of San Luis Obispo County
On this , weâre highlighting the incredible work of Hospice SLO County, a non-medical volunteer service organization and community grief center. They believe the end of life deserves as much respect as the beginning, and they support SLO County residents who are grieving a death, coping with a life-limiting illness, or facing end of life.
This organization helps people and their families at a very difficult time in their lives. In our opinion, the staff and volunteers canât be thanked enough for all they do. They are always looking for volunteers if you have an interest in giving back to our local community.
Hospice SLO County provides countywide non-medical in-home respite care, emotional support, practical assistance, and comfort to individuals, their families, and caregivers. Their services are offered at no charge, relying entirely on community donations, fundraising events, grants, bequests, planned gifts, and the dedication of over 120 volunteers.
They also offer invaluable grief counseling services to anyone in SLO County coping with a death, regardless of when, where, or how the death occurred. From individual and family counseling to various support groups and a Community Grief Response Team, Hospice SLO County is there to help people navigate the process of loss and alleviate the loneliness and isolation that often follows.
