Off Course Ranch Handyman Services Houses and projects that I've worked on. I retired after 30 years from the US Coast Guard in 2008 and settled down in central Texas in San Marcos.

It is farther inland that a sailor should be hence the name "Off Course Ranch". I bought a house on line after retiring that is big enough for foe both my wife and her parents. They ended up not moving in but the house needed remoded and I have been working on it for the past 5 years. Only one corner of the house to go. After working at The Home Depot for two years I started working for Dean Cherer Llc repairing and remodeling homes that he buys and flips. I o side jobes in my spare time.

Here’s a history lesson lumber. These are 2 2x4s. The one on the right is 155 years old. It Measures 2” x 4”. Todays 2x4s measures 1 1/2” x 3 1/2”. You can see the difference a 1/2” makes.

I haven’t posted here for awhile but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been working along with a ton of smaller jobs, I’ve completed 3 major ones. 2 houses painted and 1 room gut. The room was lined with one by material which was replaced with drywall for a more modern look. The gray house I repaired the chimney, installed a new front door pressure washed and caulked then painted.

Took out all the carpet and replaced with barn wood. The wood came from a cotton gin built in the 1800’s. I filled in the knot holes with turquoise stone. Turquoise chips in the small cracks and turquoise glass beads for the star. Filled the holes with table top clear epoxy. I finished the entire floor with minwax high gloss floor polyurethane.

Before and after pictures of a custom shower I made. Started by removing the old fiberglass surround and building the shower. I moved the shower valve from the right wall under the shower head to the left wall so you can turn on and adjust the water temperature without the shock of that first blast of cold water. Instead of a door or curtain, I put in a wall with a window. There is no door or curtain needed
