Botanic Wonders offers a wide selection of water wise and rare plants for gardens and containers. Ch We are not just a re-seller of plants.

Botanic Wonders is a nursery located in the city of Vista, San Diego County, California. We are on a hill facing the Pacific Ocean, with one of the best growing climates in the world! We have been growing exotic succulents for years and recently added palms and cycads to our inventory. We propagate many of our plants from seeds and cuttings and consider ourselves experts in growing plants. We are eager to share our "secrets" with our customers, ensuring their success in growing these wonderful plants. We have over 30 years’ experience in the nursery field and landscape design. We can help you choose the best plants for your yard. Our specialty is "xeriscape", or drought resistant plant design for the landscape, and container gardening. We are in love with the beauty, and uniqueness of these special plants and want to share our passion with you! Visit our web site or come see us in person. We would love to meet you and "talk" plants.

Quick garden tour this morning here in So. California after a nice rain. We got about 1/2 an inch, which is not very much, but for us this is still much appreciated! Everything is looking happy and clean! Love mornings like this! ❤️❤️❤️

Getting great germination on our Dioscorea elephantipes seed we planted about two weeks ago here at Botanic Wonders. It so cool to see so many sprouts popping up through the soil. Fall is probably the best time to put down Dioscorea seed, no bottom heat necessary. Next best time is early spring. 🥰🥰🥰

Working on our cactus house today, this is an off site house that has not had a lot of attention. We are doing cleanup and organizing. Lots of great specimens, just need a bit more TLC! 🥰🥰🥰

Update on seeds that were planted about two weeks ago. We have some real nice germination happening right now. Pachypodium seed is looking the best! 🥰🥰🥰

Had a question on leaf types of Dioscorea, so I decided to post a comparison photo. Now to be clear, leaves can look very different under different growing conditions, grown in shade versus grown in full sun. This is just a basic comparison, as one works with these different species one eventually can identify them regardless of where it’s grown. Hope this helps!❤️❤️❤️

Putting down our Pyrenacantha malvifolia seed we have produced here at Botanic Wonders. This is one of the largest Caudiciform species native to Africa. We only produce about thirty seeds a year so far, hopefully more in the future. 🙏🙏🙏

Today’s video is on three different Dioscorea species we grow here at Botanic Wonders. The three are D. elephantipes, D. hemicrypta, and D. mexicana. These are all seed grown and have distinct characteristics. D. mexicana is the slowest grower for us. 🤗🤗🤗

Another video on our outside growing area, focusing on several species including Pachypodium’s today. We have some nice P. lamerei and P. lamerei Ramosum specimens and several other species. These various species again appreciate the full sun conditions which contribute to nice compact growth. 🥰🥰🥰

Growing Bursera fagaroides outdoors instead of in a greenhouse. Many plants, including most pachycaul trees grow better outdoors here in California. Branches stay more compact and trunks fatten up faster. 🤗🤗🤗
