It’s FFF, Fascinating Facts Friday!
Bouclé is a French word derived from boucler: to curl or ringed.

While traditionally made from wool or mohair, modern bouclé can also be crafted from cotton, silk, linen, or synthetic blends like polyester.

Eero Saarinen famously used bouclé in 1940 for his iconic Womb Chair (checkout the teal bouclé Womb Chair we reupholstered on our grid!) and Coco Chanel popularized it in high fashion for tailored suits and jackets in the 1950s.

Take a reclined ride on a mid-century wave rocker. We have reupholstered this Adrian Pearsall 1960 wave rocker lounge chair in Dedar Milano, color: Nimbus, a soft wool bouclé with a rich texture.

Adrian Pearsall has designed some of the most exuberant and expressive pieces of American furniture in the 1950s-60s.
