We woke up our furry friend this morning. We will no longer be removing this tree. 🙃

Now is a great time to think about creating a defensible space around your home.

🔥 A fire-resilient home is an investment in more than wildfire protection!
When wildfire threatens, the choices we make around our homes can make a difference. But making your home more wildfire resilient isn't only about preparing for the worst—it can provide everyday benefits, too.

Many wildfire-resistant upgrades can help:
🏠 Reduce maintenance — Materials like metal roofing, fiber-cement siding and metal vents can require less upkeep.
⏳ Last longer — Durable materials can extend the life of your home and reduce how often you need to replace them.
💡 Save energy — Certain wildfire-resistant windows, doors and roofing materials can improve insulation and reduce heating or cooling costs.

And you don't have to do everything at once. Start with one project. Clean up combustible materials around your home. Improve your defensible space. When it's time to replace a roof, deck, siding, windows or vents, consider a wildfire-resistant option.

The best time to make your home more fire resilient is before the smoke is on the horizon.

Small improvements today can help protect what matters most tomorrow—and some can save you money along the way.

Do your part. Make your home fire resilient. Prevent a wildfire from becoming a disaster.

Here are the last few pictures from the Upper Smith Fire that I took. The two pictures of the trees torching were taken by a fellow water tender operator. The water tender and I are home until the next call.

Friday was my last day on the Turner Fire. At the end of shift, the neighborhood and two girls on horseback with a Canadian and American flag lined the road handing out handmade cards, snacks and drinks. It was a very cool way to end a fire.

Saturday was my first day on the Upper Smith Fire. I spent the day running 10 loads of water (or 28000 gallons) filling tanks that are running sprinklers for structure protection. The last two pictures are from Upper Smith Fire.

Some pictures from the Turner Fire. I've been putting on the miles the last two days, so only the nighttime picture is from then.

Sarah is headed to the Turner Fire with our water tender. Safe travels.

We hosted another awesome Aerial Rescue Class taught by David Stice and Nick Merriman. Grace Tree Service from Cda came up for the class as well. We always enjoy meeting and collaborating with other arborists in our area. Definitely a fun day of learning. Thanks again Dave and Nick!

Please enjoy this picture story of a Bald Eagle rescue we did in 2020. We were notified by photographer Annie of an eaglet that had impaled its wing on a branch and was stuck in the top of the nest tree. Janie and Don with Birds of Prey Northwest were called to assist once we […]
