After a decade of modeling in Europe & Japan, Wendy Kromer-Schell moved to NYC, enrolled in the Pastry Arts program at Peter Kump School of Culinary Art (Institute of Culinary Education), and never dieted again. With her Pastry Arts degree under her belt, Wendy worked with Colette Peters of Colette’s Cakes & Food Network fame. Shortly after, Wendy's work caught the attention of Martha Stewart and

editors. Since 1995 Wendy continues her work with Martha Stewart as Contributing Editor, producing hundreds of wedding cakes for Martha Stewart Weddings. Her decorated cookies, cakes, and other desserts have also appeared in Martha Stewart Living, TV, Macy’s, and numerous catalogs. In 2007, Wendy co-authored Martha Stewart’s Wedding Cakes (Clarkson Potter), featuring over 100 of her Wedding Cake designs & recipes. This was a fun (& challenging) cake to create! Kelci & John brought in a picture of a cake style they loved, and wanted to recreate it as a 3 tiered presentation, with extra-tall tiers.

Sometimes the cake has to sit elsewhere, until Reception time. Tonight's wedding was taking place in a glass house. Sadly, the warm, sunny day would not allow for the cake to stay there until guests arrived. The caterers were taking the cake to its final display table, and adding the couple's topper, a few hours after I left.

Quick, easy & fun! I was asked to make a pretty "layer cake" for a Symphony fundraiser recently, and thought I'd take my design cues from cake maker Katie Stymiest ("Caked by Katie" via Pinterest).

If you were not able to come to the Easter Cookie Sale/Open House (714 Wayne St., Sandusky) this past weekend, there are still decorated cookies, Lemon Rosemary Shortbread, and Springerle (both in Anise and Lemon flavors) available. You'll just need to ring our "hi-tech" RING doorbell to let me know you're here! They are available today 3/31 thru Thursday 4/2, from 10am - 6pm.
