Don't let the snow leave you in the cold. Whether you have a Heat Pump (Mini Split) or a Gas Furnace, here is what you need to know to keep your home warm and safe:
💡 HEAT PUMP OWNERS:
• Keep it Clear: Gently brush snow off the top and sides with a broom. 🧹 (Avoid shovels or ice picks—they can damage the coils!)
* DO NOT LET YOUR UNIT GET BURIED
• Airflow is King: Do NOT cover your unit. It needs to "breathe" to work.
• Ice Alert: If it’s frozen solid, switch to "Emergency Heat" until it thaws.
• Don't Panic: It’s normal for the unit to defrost frequently during a storm.
🔥 GAS FURNACE OWNERS:
• Check Your Vents: Locate your intake and exhaust pipes outside. If snow blocks these, your furnace will shut down for safety!
• Safety First: Test the batteries in your Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detectors today. 🔋
⚠️ POWER OUTAGES:
Remember, without a generator, most modern heating systems (including gas) will not run without electricity. Have a backup plan to stay warm!
