Columbia Gas customers are currently paying $.82 per therm for cost of gas ( supply charge). They are allowed to raise their rates at any time. You have an alternative choice. Lock in a “ fixed rate” with a competitive supplier. Contact me and I can provide a price if you prefer price certainty. Natural gas prices fluctuate daily in markets. Last year Columbia raised their rate to $.96 per therm.

California electricity grid in in trouble, as the state has chased out almost every conceivable source of power generation-from coal, to oil, to natural gas. This is ridiculously inept management of a vital need for the good folks of California, and there is no reason for it to happen. Massachusetts ISO (Grid operator) has stated that we have enough electricity through 2022 (only 4 years away). This is not reassuring. Variable prices for electricity and natural gas will continue to rise if supply is constrained.

(Reuters) - California's power grid operator on Monday issued an alert to homes and businesses to conserve electricity on Tuesday and Wednesday when a heat wave is expected to blanket the state. The California Independent System Operator (ISO), the grid operator, said it issued the so-called "

Did you notice a huge price increase on natural gas bills from National Grid this past Winter? If you prefer to be proactive-you may choose to lock in a "fixed rate" for this coming Winter.

Cape Cod residents using National Grid for natural gas-will notice a huge price increase on your recent bill. NGrid raised their "supply" charge 51% since the beginning of the heating season. If you prefer to lock in a "fixed" supply rate for next Winter-please send me a message. Fixed rates are currently at $.64 per therm on a 24 month term. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

National Grid has proposed a natural gas rate of $.625 per therm (gas adjustment factor) for the peak heating season-starting November 1. This rate if approved by the state, represents a 31% increase as compared to last year ($.4769 per therm). Natural gas continues to offer significant cost savings vs. fuel oil or electricity for heating.

To Randy Hunt, Peter Hassett and others who are concerned about the natural gas rates approved for Massachusetts this Winter. Natural gas prices for Eastern Mass and Cape Cod are very tricky and complex. The commodity price of natural gas is very low right now, but unfortunately we are on the end of the pipeline. The heating season is upon us, and demand for natural gas is high, and the basis cost (complex..) to bring the gas through congested pipelines during peak periods, is high. I advise my clients to lock in longer term fixed rates with third party suppliers (approved by Mass. DPU) to avoid these price spikes that occur. Pipeline capacity needs to be expanded in New England so we can keep prices low over the long term. On a national level, the rejection of the Keystone Pipeline by the Democrats, is pure silliness. Solar panels do not save the planet, but they do cost us all much more money, as the politicians take money out of our pockets and give it to solar panel manufacturers through subsidies. It makes no sense, but we have to start electing leaders with business experience, and common sense

The lack of adequate natural gas pipelines into Massachusetts is causing large price spikes in both natural gas and electricity! If your business wants budget certainty for energy rates-I can assist.

Lower Our Energy Costs.

One of the major reasons that Massachusetts electricity rates are skyrocketing in January (NStar rates will be between 14.9 -20.79 cents per kwh), is the limited natural gas pipeline capacity to accommodate peak demand periods. Natural gas fired electricity generation accounts for a large percentage of New England's electricity requirements.

12/04/2014

National Grid and NStar (Northeast Utilities) are raising their electricity "supply" charges by 30 percent. January bills will reflect "generation" charges at $.15 per kwh and higher. If you wish to procure electricity through a competitive supplier, with fixed rate prices, you can contact me for evaluation.

ISO New England requesting voluntary electricity reduction during the next few days. Some commercial customers are on "Demand Response" programs, where they curtail electricity usage during high peak intervals, and are paid for doing so.

Spectra Energy has proposed to increase the capacity of its pipeline capacity which will allow more abundant natural gas to flow into New England and SE Massachusetts. Natural gas is a United States resource, that if used to its full potential, can relieve consumers from the huge costs of imported oil. Expensive crude oil is leading to expensive fuel oil heating costs and huge gasoline costs.

The Canal power plant (formerly GenOn or Mirant) in Sandwich is a 1,126 MW oil fired electricity generator. This plant is mainly a "peaking" power plant that is called upon during peak electricity demand periods. NStar recently was granted permission by ISO New England (and our political leadership) to install a new transmission line that would enhance the electricity infrastructure brought in to Cape Cod from the northwest.
The Canal power plant does not provide "service" to Sandwich, but instead generates electricity into a regional "grid". ISO New England instructs Canal when to fire its plant and only during peak periods when demand projects to outstrip available supply.
