Treading lightly on dark nights, greenfields,
the carpets of apartments, where her crushed velvet foot falls close in to Joy, spinning tales that are not for the faint of heart
footsteps, tracks of circles and figure creating light lines, light steps.
Then I have a fall crushing the velvet thrust. Missing you like dancers,
practicing the choreograph of a new light,
leaving love breathless, but alive to spin,
varied silhouettes again and again until the morning beats through disheveled curtains slowly blinking them in to forms first faceless and I pronounced them crashing into beautiful definitions of skin and bone tangled and heaving stunningly unaware.
Silence reflects slowing breathing from the walls
And reflects shimmering defects gracefully planting secrets that we were never supposed to know.
The times when I breathed your scent on the air like it was air from the gods themselves
Rarified and invigorating like a sweet nectar.
But a thing isn’t beautiful because it lasts
It’s in brevity that we find the longest lasting love in memory.
