Understanding Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) can feel overwhelming at first, but they’re simply another tool producers can use alongside visual appraisal and good shepherding when making breeding decisions. Our new “Making Sense of EBVs” information sheets were created to break down the basics in a practical, easy-to-understand way — covering topics like accuracy, percentile rankings, and selection indexes. Whether you actively use EBVs in your flock or are just curious about what the numbers mean, we hope these resources help make the conversation around sheep genetics more approachable and useful for producers at every level.

This is what a good spring looks like at our place. Oats chest-high, crimson clover blooming, and a flock that doesn’t have time to be pretty — they’re too busy snacking on pasture and nursing their lambs. Hard to complain about a day like this.
