I’m feeling blue…and light purple, and lavender and royal blue! Native California wild flowers in my garden. Pollinators a plenty. I did water them before the rains came, which were super late this year. Other than that they take care of them selves. Save seeds or let them fall where they may.

So a native California grape had a fling with a European grape and Vitis Californica “Roger’s Red” was born. Gorgeous anytime of the year but especially for fall and winter color. Fig and pomegranate trees making an appearance, too.

I harvested these CA Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) and Arroyo Lupine (Lupinus succulentus)seeds last fall. Put the seed pods in paper bags and left them to dry out in the garage. Before the first big rain, I go through the pods and take out all the seeds. Then a light rake of the soil before broadcasting the little guys. Not sure why these lupine seeds have a variety of shades - maybe not all are viable seeds? Luckily I’ve got a lot. 😉
