The Forge Garden

The Forge Garden Santa Clara University's 1/2-acre organic garden. Santa Clara University’s ½-acre edible, organic garden is a hub for sustainable food system education.

Established in 2008, the Forge Garden has committed to serve the campus as a space for course research, service learning, and demonstration of sustainable food production. The Forge Garden currently has six chickens, four beehives, a 400-square foot greenhouse, a compost center, over 20 fruit trees, over 15,000-square feet of garden beds, a public commons, an aquaponic system, and the 2007 Solar Decathlon House used as an office.

SCU's Day of Giving is TODAY, April 23rd!

The Forge Garden is a community space that only thrives with community support. Contributions in the form of volunteer work, cash donations, plants, knowledge, and love have made everything we do at the Forge possible! Your support allows us to offer a weekly donation-based Farm Stand, bi-annual plant sales, an amazing internship program, a Nourish Nights meal program, and free weekend workshops. If you love the Forge and the programs we offer, please consider lending your support in any way you can:

💚 Make a Donation - Donate directly to the Forge for Day of Giving on April 23rd! Donations will also help the Center for Sustainability reach our donation challenges.

💚Volunteer - Donate some of your time to Forge this spring and get your hands dirty. Volunteer hours are Fridays 9:30am - 11:30am and 2:00pm - 4:00pm.

💚Bring Us Your Food Scraps - Support our new composting system! We are collecting food scraps at the Forge on Fridays during Farm Stand hours and Thursdays in front of Benson from 11:30am - 1:30pm.

💚Donate Supplies - We often need items like used paper bags, jars, and dish rags for our programs. Join our mailing list to stay updated on what we currently need in the garden.

In 2022, Nouish Nights was envisioned by students to provide a free, plant-based, and healthy meal to members of the Santa Clara University student community experiencing food insecurity. Now that we’ve completed a year of Nourish Nights programming, we’ve realized that this event didn’t fully meet the needs of its intended audience.
This coming quarter, Nourish Nights will look a little different as we refocus, reassess, and proactively gather information to ensure the program fulfills its original goal - nourishing the students who need it most while also building a safe community space.
If you are a student who is an active part of the Bronco Pantry, we would love to hear your ideas and thoughts. If you would be interested in giving feedback, discussing ideas, or filling out a survey, please contact Colleen at [email protected].
