The Ripple Effect Santa Cruz Arts Festival begins today, and the Coastal Watershed Council is taking part! Join us on Friday, April 24, for a guided tour of the San Lorenzo River's vibrant artwork from 4–5:30 pm. This 1.5-mile walking tour will depart from the Coastal Watershed Council office and make a loop around the Santa Cruz Riverwalk. 💧🎨

The State of the San Lorenzo River Symposium is this Saturday, April 11! Join us for presentations from 9 am - 12:30 pm at the London Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz, followed by a tour of the lower San Lorenzo River. Our keynote speaker will be California Senator John Laird, and CWC Executive Director Laurie Egan will facilitate the event.

A message from our executive director Julie Packard on the passing of Dr. Jane Goodall:

Dr. Jane Goodall was a remarkable individual—as a scientist, as an advocate for wildlife and wild places, and as a source of profound hope for the future of our planet. She brought such a joyful spirit and unfailing optimism to her work. Most importantly, she recognized that—together—we can make a real difference through our actions, large and small.

I mourn her passing and celebrate her life. It was an honor to know and work with Dr. Goodall. Her legacy will live on, in the lives of the millions of people she inspired.

Happy California Biodiversity Day! Today we celebrate the incredible variety of life that makes our state so unique, from towering redwoods to tiny tidepool creatures, and everything in between.
