Christmas Eve 2020, We received a call from the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History. They called and said they had a water main leak in the floor above the control room where their on-prem browser based access control system was housed. These systems have their data embedded in the controller, so when water leaked into the controller their system crashed and all of their data and credentials were lost. Unfortunately there weren't any current backups taken, so we would have to start from scratch and re-create the data base, add new credentials, and hand them out.
With direction from our one of our advisors, the director of facilities and operations for the MAH decided that updating to our Brivo cloud-based platform was a much better option. Their data would now be stored in the cloud eliminating the need for regular backups, and credentials would also be stored in cloud so if anything like this ever happened again, we would simply order a new controller, plug it in and all data and credentials would be restored.
Their new system can also managed and controlled remotely. They can track access events for all tenants and from anywhere as long as they have an internet connection.
