“Trend cycles aren’t going anywhere, but there’s a growing resistance to the sea of sameness—a desire to have a home that couldn’t belong to just anyone,” says French. “Main character decor is the antidote to the algorithmically curated aesthetic. It’s personal, it’s considered, and it has a point of view.”

We recently chatted with the editors at Real Simple about the rise of “Main Character Decor,” and as you can imagine, we fully support the movement! Your home should tell your story, not look like everyone else’s Pinterest board.

Head to full story, here:

Say goodbye to cookie-cutter interiors. Here's why “main character decor” is trending and the three simple updates designers recommend for making your home stand out.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Diné fiber artist Kevin Aspaas to our studio in Santa Fe to celebrate the debut of his new collection with Schumacher. It was an absolute honor to host both Kevin and the Schumacher team and to spend an evening surrounded by such thoughtful artistry and creative spirit. ✨

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us! There is something truly special about bringing together designers, makers, and friends in celebration of beautiful work and the stories behind it.

We loved opening our doors to this incredible community and sharing an evening filled with inspiration and connection. Moments like these remind us why we cherish this work and the people who make it so rewarding! More events at the studio to come!! 🥂

Timelessness may be the current trend, and what’s more timeless than a marbled pattern?

This space from our own home was recently featured by Good Housekeeping as part of their look at how marbled finishes, rooted in historic techniques, are finding their way back into interiors in a fresh, modern way. And how, naturally, we decided to put it on the ceiling.

Our friends at Homes & Gardens Magazine asked us to weigh in on which “vintage” colors are making a comeback — and unsurprisingly, we’re fully embracing purple.

When balanced with warm tones and layered, sophisticated textures (hello, mohair and grasscloth! 😍), the hue takes on an entirely different personality. Moody, modern, playful, and refined all at once.

See what other colors are making their way back to interiors, here: https://www.homesandgardens.com/interior-design/vintage-colors-making-a-comeback-in-2026

Spaces that flow effortlessly from one to the next, each with its own sense of surprise and delight. Every room in this home tells a distinct color story, while still sharing a common thread that ties it all together. For us, that meant rich jewel tones layered with large-scale black-and-white checkered floors, and sisal rugs grounding each space. It’s that consistency that gives you the freedom to play… to go bold with color and create moments that feel unexpected, vibrant, and full of personality. ✨

Matt’s speaking at the on the Cape this week, and while preparing for his talk, we found ourselves deep in the archives revisiting the early days of French & French. From when we met, our 300 sq ft home that pushed us to change careers, our first show houses…. Everything that slowly shaped what this studio has become.

And what a journey it’s been!! Grateful for every client, collaborator, friend, and cheerleader who’s been part of the story along the way. 🫶

Swipe for a few favorites from the beginning. And if you’re at the conference this week, you’re in for a treat!
