This bathtub/shower in West LA was an unusual shape and also the in&out access was limited. I installed an 18" vertical grab bar at the entrance to get in and out and another 36" grab bar that can be used both for showering while standing or sitting on a shower chair.

For a shower-bathtub we recommend 3 grab bars:

A vertical 18" grab bar at the entrance/exit to help stepping over the front of the bathtub. Ver important espescially when coming out since the feet and hands are wet and more proned to slip and fall forward.

A horizontal 24" grab bar below the k***s to hold on to while standing and washing hair.

A 36" grab bar positioned at an angle, easier on the shouolder when sitting up or sitting down, if using a shower chair.

Sometimes a white grab bar simply works better than the usual brushed silver grab bar. But in the end of course, what works best for the homeowner in trms of comfort and assistance is the most important aspect.

The very nice owner of this Beverlywood home was very frail on his legs due to Parkinson. So we installed grab bars in the staircase of his 2 story Beverlywood home and an additional grab bar in the bathroom and a short handrail at the front door of the house. This gave much needed additional stability and he was very happy with the result.
