Better Together…You know you’re on the right track when you show up to a Hancock Park home at 9 pm to inspect the landscape lighting on a project that isn’t finished yet, and your clients are already out back, soaking in the vibe. & ITS A TOTAL VIBE FOR SURE!

This is more than design—it’s a testament to mutual trust and respect. You can feel it in the project, every detail reflecting a shared vision.

Next week, we’ll wrap it up with gravel, sod, a whirlpool bath, and mulch, plus a stunning dining area, lounge, firepit, and chaise seating. The clients have discerning taste and truly value great design—that’s always a major plus.

Culver City Modern Ranch…. Working thru the options, value engineering, and embracing AI as a tool and nothing something to fear. I’ve learned in this process that while AI can build some ALMOST doable and beautiful landscapes it misses the mark on horticultural realities, irrigation, and most importantly BUDGET! Always Learning, Always getting faster, Always elevating… Follow along and watch us bring this to life…

10 Ft Custom Faux Olive Tree. Many of the luxury homes in Los Angeles have exceptionally tall ceilings and in those instances, it’s very important to scale your accessories and furnishings appropriately. Not only should the tree scale to the room, but the Planter should scale to the tree. I often see both live & faux plants in planters that are too small for them. In nature, those wouldn’t exist in undersized pots and when dealing with Faux, the goal is really to mimic nature as closely as possible. As we conceive from this custom for Olive Olive Trees, the trunks are made from real wood & real trees leading itself to its authenticity and making every single tree unique just as they are in nature.

Wrapping up the details through a deliberate, detail-driven process lasting nearly a year. We’re still tying up a few items, but the progress so far speaks for itself: this project demanded precision beyond the ordinary, maximizing every inch and blurring the line between indoor and outdoor living. The seamless integration with the recently renovated home showcases masterful collaboration across design, construction, and landscape teams. The relationship between the interior the exterior structure, and then those structures that blur the lines between the interior and exterior as well as surrounding Landscape and this Urban lot. Patience was both tested and rewarded—results that truly reflect a win for the whole team. Stay tuned as we finalize the last touches.

Tree #3: Mission Olive
planted in the late 18th century, nearing 175 years ago in San Juan Capistrano along El Camino Real and the building of the Missions in California, today rehomed to Hancock Park. Three trees, three different farms, three cultivars—each chosen for its unique character.

This front Mission Olive was selected for its lush canopy and storybook trunk. We’ve aimed for a visually calm composition, placing it off-center to refocus attention on the main home entry as this originally two-family house is transformed into a single-family residence.

Join us as we reimagine and restore beauty to this home just in time to celebrate its first century and ready it for its next chapter. This ancient olive harkens back to the historic mansion in Historic Hancock Park.

We’ve updated the home with new windows, metalwork, tilesnature ngs, and walkways, along with a fully refreshed front and back garden. Follow along as the transformation unfolds…

3 trees, 3 days, 3 different farms, 3 Cultivars & one reason-they each do something different and unique. The grand daddy of Olives at center point is infact the center piece, chosen for its sculptural, beauty and old world character. The Manzanita chosen for its shape and dense foliage creating privacy in this urban garden flanks one end of the garden and puts the lounge area in between two olives for intimacy & on Tuesday we are installing a 6000ilb mission olive that is calm graceful soft for a welcoming entry statement to this reimagined Spanish revival home in Hancock Park. All of these trees are complemented with a variety of other Mediterranean trees, including Marina Arbutus, Laurel Nobilis, Trellised Jasmine, Climbing Fig, Boxwood, Westringia &
Serilis GreenLee, and of course a Mediterranean garden would not be complete without a giant bougainvillea in bright fuchsia. Follow along and watch this classic modern Mediterranean garden come to life!
