"☔ LA homeowners: a question worth answering BEFORE the first storm.
Can you, right now, locate and test your sump pump?
Every January we get a wave of calls from homeowners who can't. And every January, the first serious storm of the season reveals the ones that haven't been tested since last winter.
Here's what a 60-second sump pump test looks like:
→ Find the unit (usually in a utility room, garage, or basement)
→ Lift the float switch manually
→ The pump should activate immediately
→ Release it — it should stop
That's it. If it doesn't activate, or doesn't stop — you have a problem you want to find NOW, not mid-storm.
We're also thinking about you, Venice, Mar Vista, and lower-lying parts of Santa Monica — you know who you are. Storm drain + sump pump = the combination that keeps water where it belongs.
👇 Drop a ✅ if you tested yours this week. Drop a ❓ if you have no idea where your sump pump is. Both are valid answers.
