Work is underway at the Horse Show Grounds!

While we love seeing the framing go up, we are most proud of how the structure is beginning to sit within this critical view corridor. Designing in the Adirondacks is often about listening to the landscape.

Our goal was to ensure the built design sits among the Olympic Torch, Whiteface, and the Sentinel Range. It’s a privilege to build in a place this beautiful.

There is a profound beauty in building with the very elements found on the land.
For this timeless Adirondack sleeping cabin on the lake, we wanted the design to truly bridge the built and natural environments.

We selected materials that reflect the site itself:
“Ausable Blue” granite in the shower
White pine walls
Maple floors
Rustic Alder cabinetry

By using the trees and stones similar to those on which the building sits, the structure feels less like an addition to the landscape and more like a natural extension of it. This is environmental stewardship in its most tactile form.

We are honored to be part of the team reimagining the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds for the Town of North Elba.

Working in collaboration with Supervisor Derek Doty, North Woods Engineering, and other local professionals, BMA is leading the conceptual and interior design for this vital community space. The goal is to create a welcoming, year-round hub with updated facilities and a commercial kitchen, ensuring the grounds can host community events, weddings, and gatherings for generations to come.

Architecture is about strengthening the fabric of our communities. We can't wait to see this venue thrive.

Opening Day at Whiteface ❄️

It was a perfect day—white snow, blue sky—for Jesse, Kim, and the kids to get back on the mountain.

We know early snow can be tough on our builder partners and collaborators trying to close in projects before deep winter sets in (we appreciate you!). But on the weekends, we make it a priority to get out there.

The days are getting shorter, and the evenings darker here in the Adirondacks. It makes the beauty of a warm, welcoming light even more powerful.

The clean lines of the standing seam metal roof provide shelter, while the warm 2700k lighting strategy creates a soft, warm glow that fills the space and spills outward.

Design isn't just about how a space looks; it's about how it feels. This, to us, feels like a joyful experience to come home to.

Progress at one of our current projects. The living room and bedroom spaces are being enclosed, and the high-performance Zola triple-pane windows are in.

These windows are key to the home's resilience and energy efficiency, but just as importantly, they create a deep sense of comfort. They bridge the indoors with the outdoors, connecting people to the forever wild landscape —in this case, a beautiful stand of Hemlock trees.
