Tun-BRIDGE THE GAP!
Building a new home? A little confused by the structural, architectural and interior design processes and how they all integrate to transform an empty lot into your dream home?
One of the most common pieces of feedback I’ve received from clients and tradespeople throughout my career is, “I was expecting something different than this.” It’s not necessarily a bad thing- sometimes it turns out to be better! But unexpected changes during construction can be a point of stress for new homeowners. Bridging the gap between the language we (as homeowners) speak and the language we (as contractors speak) can be a critical component in ensuring proper expectations are set, met and understood by all parties.
A client in the pre-construction phase of designing their home from scratch had never been inside any home like it because of the level of customization. Because of the high degree of time and thought they put into planning this home, they wanted to be sure everything was perfect and exactly how they’d pictured it coming together.
I suggested a DBP (Digital Build Package) so they had the opportunity to see, in 3D, exactly what their home would look when it’s constructed. This allowed me to make a few suggestions to them regarding the relocation of a few doors, some electrical fixtures and windows and to bring up code violations which can be a major impediment to proceeding through the construction process if not considered prior to the commencement of construction.
Being able to show the clients digital renderings of their home allowed them to better understand which architectural elements of their home could potentially create roadblocks in achieving their desired aesthetic outcome and allowed them the opportunity to add/correct and make adjustments where needed to ensure compliance with Florida Building Code.
A picture, as they say, is worth a thousand words- and maybe even dollars.
We know, appreciate and respect how much time, money and consideration are put forth during the process of purchasing, renovating, improving and building homes. With custom pre-construction renderings or architectural/structural/design consultations prior to meeting with your chosen builder, we can work together to make sure the design details, furniture, decor and functional built-in elements you WANT are integrated with the architectural and structural components you NEED.
