It was a very late night, getting home just after 10, but today we welcome Dahoon (doe) and Redbud (buck) from RoseOak Ranch: TAMUK Composite Meat Rabbits. Thank you Dunn Critter Transport for getting them from Texas to Floirda.

In a few weeks once all the juniors fill in some better I'll update our breeders albums. We have 6 new breeders in our line up.

An exciting day today. We just got home from picking up two new bucks from Parks Homestead/Meat Rabbits . Meet Bay (lightly marked chocolate harli) and Tupelo (harlequinized black chinchilla). We have been crazy busy this weekend! We had seven 10 week olds to butcher, 4 breeders to "retire" and potential hold back doe that didn't make the final cut. We ended up with 33 # of deboned rabbit meat!! It was time to restock the freezer with rabbit meat products.

Final makings:
6.5 quarts bone broth
5 # hot Italian sausage (bulk)
5 # sweet Italian sausage (bulk)
5 # chorizo (bulk)
5 # ground rabbit
2 # bunny bacon (to be smoked tomorrow)
2 # summer sausage (to also be smoked tomorrow)
27 1/3 # bunny burgers (15 cheddar burgers, 12 jalapeno cheddar burgers)
64 maple breakfast sausage patties.

We are cycling out our bucks to bring new lines in. Therefore, our current bucks are available as proven bucks to a new farm.

Elm, from RoseOak Ranch is 3 years old and has so far sired 99 kits for us, one litter on the way

Cypress, from Brian Ritchie lines is 3 years old and has sired 99 for kits so far, one litter on the way

Alder, from D&G Tamukshire is 2 years old and has sired 50 kits so far, one litter on the way.

These boys still have lots of breeding potential and are hard to retire from our herd but I kept back too many daughters that my lines are needing some new blood.

These are pictures are when they were molting heavily, they are much sleeker now.
