So here’s the follow up with the last piece I posted. It’s been done for awhile but I’ve been procrastinating posting the results. So with hammer, chisel and dremel the wood filler and what I guessed was drywall mud came out of the tiki design in the wood. It ended up doing enough damage I couldn’t restrain and preserve the original look. So with that in mind I decided to to paint those sections and highlight the beautiful grain in the doors and the drawers. Of course I got carried away and decided to add a little detail on the sides. As you can tell I’m a little obsessed with mid century pieces. This one falls in the brutalist category. It was hard, but like most, a lot of fun. I did end adding a shiplap wall behind the piece and my wife Laura had a great idea to add a shelf to finish it off. We love it, and for now it stays until I find something else to refinish or repurpose! (Last picture is the before) hope you all enjoy!

It’s been a long time since posting but we do have some projects we’ll post in the near future. I thought I’d throw a teaser out there for you fans of vintage furniture. I recently bought a piece and Im still deciding how far I wanna go with it. Some modifications were done and I’m gonna try to bring it partly back to it’s original glory. I’ll only say the realization of the work that needs to be done is gonna be “brutal” ( pun intended for those who get it ) I’ll try to keep pics coming and explain the process as it goes. It may help those who have their own projects. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

So we should have posted this a long time ago! One of our favorite projects to date. This balcony rail was so much fun to build and create. We need to thank Tim and Patricia Holden Saylor for the opportunity and fun design. The beautiful nautical elements were so much fun to incorporate. A 1"x10"x12' oak board spans the top. Gorgeous grain stained grey. Light grey columns with white spindles and oars. Love how this piece came together. The last two pictures are of the stairway which was completed just before the balcony rail. Oak stair treads stained grey with white risers and skirt boards. The Rope hand rails add the finishing touch! Saylor South is going through its beautiful transformation and it looks amazing already! So happy to be part of this!

We recently were asked to do a pretty fun project. The home owner was completely remodeling the home he just purchased and really didn't like the way the stone around his fireplace didn't match the color scheme he chose. So we used a white stone/stucco paint and painted each individual stone letting any streaks or dirty marks show through. We then dry brushed each stone with a medium grey to highlight the texture and edges. Last, just for little touch, we splattered a little black here there to add a some character and age to the stone. We stained the cedar beams around the fireplace black. It looked so much better than dark brown that was there before. Hope you enjoy the transformation, he did. Rejuvenating a tired fireplace like this is what we work for. It's a true pleasure to take something a little worn and tired and give it a new look and life.

Medium Sized Vintage desk. Some Queen Ann elements in design. Multiple coats of paint, edges hand sanded to give a worn vintage feel. Followed with 3 coats of flat polyurethane.
