Be careful who you hiring for work.
This particular town house was build in 2017. Even though it is a recesset shower I do encourage for at least some waterproofing. On the other side of the back wall is a garage. Suddenly the owner noticed some small amount of water on garage floor. After a quick inspection it turned out the grout between shower floor and wall tile was gone and the each time someone was taking a shower the water went straight down to the shower base. In result , after removing of existing shower base , we empty almost 5 gallons of water sitting underneath of a shower base.
Another tip - wall tile always should sit on a shower floor tile, not the other way.
