A huge shout-out to for making the most beautiful casket arrangement for Grandma Joyce's funeral today. I sent them a few photos of Grandma's garden, and they really captured the essence of it. Also, thank you to those who donated a few weeks ago when I was giving away bud vases in her memory. Growing flowers was part of Grandma's identity, and I couldn't think of a better way to honor her than with a beautiful garden-style design. ♥️

Larkspur! My favorite is lavender because it is more of a dusty gray lavender--moody and rich. It so lovely!

I was talking to friend and admitted that I had never seen some of my peony varieties bloom because I cut them and sell them so fast. I let that bother me for a few days before I decided it was time for me to enjoy some peonies and ranunculus. So out came one of my favorite vases! I was so happy to have this tribute to all shades of pink on my table this past week.

Peonies "Sarah Bernhardt"
Ranunculus
Snapdragons "Avignon Silver"
Sweet William "Salmone"
Bupleurum

What a magical morning! and I got to drive up Millcreek Canyon to Log Haven venue yesterday, where we set up a ground arch that we meticulously designed the night before. We were thrilled at how the flowers in the arch matched the landscape so well! It felt like we pulled a part of the landscape on to the ceremony stage. That really is the advantage of using locally grown flowers--what's growing in the wild is what is growing in our gardens. It was a great feeling to provide the what seemed like the perfect backdrop for a mountain wedding. Congratulations, Kinley!

The flower stand will be up today until 1 or so. I only have a few bouquets left, but I made a lot of bud vases to share with you. They will be free today in honor of my grandpa Joyce who passed away on Thursday. ♥️ Thanks for all your support!

My grandma Joyce passed yesterday. She was an artist, a reader, and an avid gardener. She was the youngest child who made her own path in life, teaching art and getting a master's in print making at NYU. Old age took all those things away from her, so I try to soothe my grief by reminding myself that she is happier now. No more dementia to take away her memories and no more physical ailments for her to struggle through. She is having a most joyful reunion with her husband, siblings, and son!

But it is still hard to realize she isn't here. The passing of my grandparents is the end of a chapter of my life that I held on to very fiercely. She was a source of inspiration for my business-- the "Joyce" of Bessie and Joyce Flowers. Her home on Peaks Island in Maine is on my business logo. Her garden influenced mine, though it will never be as lush and beautiful as hers was. We nicknamed it the "Temple Square" garden for a reason!

I don't know what else to say, except to thank her for the part she played this gardening, growing, flowering part of my life. I feel that she will be close by me as I continue making bouquets that bring happiness to my life and the lives of those around me. I love you Grandma and will miss you! Until we meet again. ♥️

I love doing custom orders like this. I get to shop my cooler and pick my favorites that I've harvested that week, all with the intention of bringing joy to someone else's day. The garden has been generous this week, giving me everything I need for an arrangement--oregano and cress for greenery, beautiful peonies and ranunculus for focal flowers, and lovely columbine, orlaya, and the first snapdragons to fill it out! Just a reminder, there will be no flower stand this weekend, but reach out of you're looking for a bouquet. ♥️ Cheers!
