Nothing we love more than transforming homes with a storied past. One of our favorite long time clients asked if we could look into painting his parents home which was originally his grandparents home! Originally built in 1925, the home was bought by his grandparents in 1962 and then sold to his own parents in 1990! It’s so cool to think about how much family history and cherished memories live within these walls and we were honored to help preserve it for many more years to come. The shakes required days of scraping but we wanted to get as much failing paint off to ensure we had a strong bond between the shakes and the primer. We could have scraped for 100 years but once the crew started going a little insane, we decided it was time to prime. Sherwin-Williams exterior wood oil-based primer tinted to the light French grey provided our base coat and we followed it up with two top coats of Sherwin-Williams exterior duration to create a uniform and and durable finish. After touching up the white trim here and there we use Sherwin-Williams resilience to give the shutters a color called caviar and we are loving the contrast between them and the light French grey shakes. But we weren’t done yet! We needed to give the old brick a dramatic facelift and there is no better choice in product for masonry than romabiopaints. Here we used romabiopaints classico limewash and the results truly speak for themselves, a timeliness look that elevated the homes appearance beyond our expectations. Finally, we carefully and expertly applied benjaminmoore grand entrance High gloss in the color bold blue to the front door and even spray painted the house numbers with Rust-Oleum gloss enamel so that we left no stone unturned. The homeowners were thrilled with the final outcome and they even invited us to do some interior work in the winter!
